The greatest holiday memories are unburdened by a camera, allowing us to create a mental photo we burnish each time it’s recalled. On the eve of my honeymoon, I found myself asking: What do we lose when we cannot travel? What do we gain when we rely on recollection alone?

Daniel Seifert’s work has appeared or is forthcoming in the New York Times, Consequence, Open: Journal of Arts & Letters, and the anthology Missed Connections: Microfiction from Asia. In 2023 he was shortlisted for the Bridport Prize and longlisted for the Letter Review Prize.
