She had been going through a difficult time and had stopped taking her medications. She spoke to a sister (a nun) about the angels. The sister believed they were sent to comfort her. Karen Simons studied Greek and Latin literature before obtaining a PhD in English. Her articles, translations, book reviews, and creative non-fiction have appeared in various journals, including the International Journal of the Classical Tradition, Arion: A Journal of Humanities and the Classics, and Queen’s Quarterly. She has lived in Edmonton’s Little Italy, with her husband Joe, for over twenty years.
