Villages collide, cities merge, distances collapse. You can see Mont-Saint-Michel from your apartment window in Paris, and Chartres Cathedral is in your neighbour’s garden. The world is shrinking. At least, that was how nineteenth-century Europe saw it. All of which was just a dramatic way of describing the distinctly modern phenomenon of space-time compression. Bio:

Anthony Purdy writes poems and stories and lives in rural Nova Scotia. “The Annex” was longlisted for the Australian Book Review Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize. Another of his stories, “Spoons,” took second place in the 2022 Short Grain Contest for fiction and was published in the fall 2022 issue of Grain.
