On behalf of Queen’s University, I wish to convey our deepest sympathies on the presumed loss of six Canadian Armed Forces members in the recent crash of the military Cyclone helicopter in the Ionian Sea.
Earlier today I was in touch with Dr. Harry Kowal, Principal of the Royal Military College (RMC), and offered our condolences over the loss of all on board. Four out of the six members in the crash were graduates of RMC, so this tragic event hits very close to home. I know there will be a number of people in our academic community who will be mourning this loss dearly and I wish to let them know that their Queen’s colleagues join in their sorrow.
At this precarious time, when it is difficult for people to come together in grief, it is even more important to express the profound sadness and pain that comes from such a tragic event. We are deeply grateful for the sacrifices and commitment of our Canadian Armed Forces personnel and wish to let all Canadians know that Queen’s University supports them and their efforts to protect and serve our country.
