As we approach the university’s bicentennial in 2041, we are invited to reflect on the enduring strength and purpose of our university. For nearly two centuries, Queen’s has navigated periods of challenge with resilience and creativity, emerging stronger and more determined to contribute meaningfully to the world.
Today, as we contend with significant financial pressures and changing societal needs, we have a responsibility to adapt to the realities of our time while staying true to the values that define us. To ensure a prosperous and meaningful future, we must navigate today’s challenges with creativity and determination.
In that spirit, Principal Deane is sharing his Queen’s Bicentennial Vision: A Discussion Paper to inspire a community conversation about where we want our university to be in 2041.
What the discussion paper covers
Principal Deane’s discussion paper:
- highlights the values, strengths, and history that define Queen’s,
- examines our shifting educational needs and demographic trends, and
- explores strategic opportunities to ensure Queen’s remains a leader in research, teaching, and community engagement.
As we develop our longer-term vision, we will continue work to address the immediate financial challenges faced by Queen’s.
