Queen’s Partnerships and Innovation is pleased to report the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 11,349,385 entitled, "High Voltage Start-up Apparatus for Switching Power Supplies," on May 31, 2022 to Yang Chen and Yan-Fei Liu. The patent relates to a start-up circuit for a power converter that includes a charging circuit that uses a DC bus voltage of the power converter to generate a charging current to charge an energy storage device to a selected voltage and an auxiliary power output circuit including a transformer primary side auxiliary winding.
