We take a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding the mechanisms of emotional and cognitive modulation of pain and individual differences in pain vulnerability. We are particularly interested in how these mechanisms contribute to the interplay of pain and mental health disorders.

Our work uses functional magnetic resonance imaging, quantitative sensory testing, as well as various experimental techniques from psychology and philosophy.
