Dr. Bakker earned a PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Minnesota and benefitted from post-doctoral training at Colorado State University. He worked as a staff scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture prior to joining the University of Manitoba. His research program has twin emphases on the microbiology of agricultural soils and on fusarium head blight disease of wheat and barley.
