Joanna Noonan, RN, BScN, MA, COHN/CM, CDMP, Director, Occupational Health and Safety, Kingston Health Sciences Centre
Joanna is a Registered Nurse who has spent most of her career working in the area of occupational health and safety. She obtained a nursing degree from the University of Ottawa and a Masters of Arts in Disability Management from the University of Northern British Columbia. Joanna has a diploma in Occupational Health Nursing, is a certified occupational health nurse/case manager (COHN/CM), and maintains certification as a Disability Management Professional (CDMP). She has worked as a health care professional in the industrial and health care sectors and has experience developing course curriculum and teaching disability management and nursing. Her peer reviewed publications have focused on the employer’s role in preventing and managing workplace injury and illness. Joanna is currently the manager of the occupational health service at Kingston General Hospital with responsibility for the operation of the occupational health clinic, disability management and wellness programs, and the hospital’s safety program. Her interest in improving the quality of health care in hospitals through the management of risk, prevention of safety incidents, and measurement and monitoring of performance led her to recently complete a certificate program in Integrated Quality Management.
