In late October, Queen’s University began talks with Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and its Local 229 (Tradespeople / Maintenance Workers and Caretakers / Custodians), in an effort to reach a negotiated renewal of the Collective Agreement between Local 229 and the University. The Collective Agreement expired on June 30, 2024.

The University values the contributions of its employees and respects the collective bargaining process. It remains committed to reaching a negotiated agreement that is capable of being ratified by both parties. Once reached, the details of any tentative agreement will remain confidential until it is ratified successfully by CUPE and the University.
