Additional conciliation dates have been scheduled between the university and Queen’s employee groups represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) towards a new collective agreement.

Conciliation talks between the university and CUPE groups will occur:

  • May 8 in the morning (CUPE 1302)
  • May 8 in the afternoon (CUPE 254)
  • May 13 (CUPE 229)
  • May 20 (all three CUPE employee groups)

Negotiations toward a new collective agreement between the university and the Queen’s University Faculty Association (QUFA) commenced in January 2015 and are also ongoing.

The university is focused on reaching negotiated agreements with all employee groups that both balance the university’s need to preserve its core academic mission and respect the limitations dictated by current financial realities.

The university values the contributions of its many employees and remains committed to the collective bargaining process.

*Correction: An earlier version of this story listed conciliation dates for United Steelworkers (USW) Local 2010. While USW has filed a request for appointment of a conciliation officer, and Greg Long has been appointed as conciliation officer by the Ministry of Labour to confer with the parties and to endeavour to effect a collective agreement between them, no conciliation meetings have been held to date.*
