Queen’s University is pleased to announce that the agreement to renew the Collective Agreement between the University and United Steelworkers (USW) and its Local 2010, which represents about 1,200 general support staff working at Queen’s, has been ratified by all parties.
The University announced on March 9 that the parties’ negotiating committees had reached a tentative agreement to renew the Collective Agreements pending ratification by the bargaining unit members and the University’s Board of Trustees. The ratification process has concluded successfully.
The renewed collective agreement has a three-year term ending December 31, 2027. The Human Resources department will soon announce information sessions for supervisors and administrators where details of the renewed agreement will be discussed.
Some highlights of the Collective Agreement include:
- Across the Board (ATB) increases of 3%, 2.25%, 2.25% for each of the three years of the renewal agreement (payable July 1, 2025- June 30, 2028);
- Lump sum payment of $500 upon ratification for those occupying positions in grades 3-8;
- Increased shift and weekend premiums;
- Clarification on the calculation and application of travel time credit;
- Addition of a process for addressing any lack of, or delay in, response to workload concerns;
- Clarification on calculation and application of overtime and averaging; and,
- Enhancement of Tuition Assistance program benefits.
The University respects the collective bargaining process, values the work of its USW Local 2010 members and appreciates the efforts of all concerned in bringing the process to a successful conclusion.
