Queen’s University has begun the search for a new chief information officer (CIO) and associate vice-principal (Information Technology Services), following the recent departure of Bo Wandschnieder, who accepted the position of CIO at the University of Toronto effective May 1, 2017.

While the search for a replacement is conducted, Jim Cranston, former CIO at Simon Fraser University, has taken on the interim CIO role and will assume his duties in June. A graduate of Queen’s, Mr. Cranston has extensive experience in the IT field, organizational effectiveness, and strategic and business planning, and recently co-authored a CAUBO report Cybersecurity in a University Setting.  

Queen’s has engaged the search firm of Sidky Myron & Associates as recruitment consultants for the CIO search, which has commenced and will continue over the summer months. Vice-Principal (Finance & Administration) Donna Janiec would like to thank the members of the search committee, listed below, for agreeing to assist with the appointment of this key position for Queen’s.
