Researchers who are using the new tool for their financial reporting continue to be impressed by the easy-to-use functionality.

“I really like being able to access up-to-date financial information about my project instead of waiting for a monthly report,” says Dr. Steve Fischer, an assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies.

In September, Queen’s launched new Statement of Operations Research reporting functionality in Fast Administrative Support Tool (FAST), a financial reporting tool that came online in March

Beginning in October, access to the monthly Statement of Operations Research reports available through the Research Account Information section of MyQueensU will be phased out and reports will be available exclusively through FAST.

“As with any new software package, we anticipate it will take some time for researchers to become familiar with the new tool. In the long run, though, FAST will improve the overall efficiency of managing research projects and give researchers more time to advance their research and scholarship,” says Steven Liss, Vice-Principal (Research).

To access reports through FAST, researchers will now follow this process:

  • Visit www.queensu.ca, select MyQueensU/SOLUS from the drop-down menu on the top right corner, and sign in with their NetID and password.
  • Click on the My Applications tab to see the Financial Reporting Information section and click on the hyperlink to go straight to the Statement of Operations Research report or other reports such as Project Summary, Transaction Detail Revenue and Expense, and Accounts Payable Details.

Queen’s is offering a variety of online training resources to help researchers use the new financial reporting tool. Short videos are available for researchers to consult as a reference.
