The Queen’s community will gather in Grant Hall on Monday, November 11 to mark Remembrance Day.
The service, led by Erin Burns, Interfaith Chaplain, will start at 10:50 am, with doors opening at 10:30 am. A procession to the 5th Field Company Plinth to lay wreaths will follow the service. Classes are cancelled between 10:30 and 11:30 am.
Students, alumni, faculty, staff are encouraged to attend and mark Remembrance Day together and acknowledge the sacrifices of many Queen’s students, alumni, faculty, and staff in times of war. The event is also open to the Kingston community.
A program for the service is available on the Office of the Principal and Vice-Chancellor’s website.
Grant Hall was used as a military hospital and convalescent facility during the First World War, and during the Second World War it was used as an entertainment centre for troops and a meal hall.
