Registration now open for wellbeing and burnout prevention certificate

After a successful launch in 2023 with nearly 40 graduates, Human Resources is pleased to offer the Enhancing Wellbeing and Preventing Burnout (EWPB) certificate program, designed to help managers lead. 

The certificate features five online courses that cover a wide range of topics related to burnout prevention and wellbeing. Throughout the program, managers will learn the signs and symptoms of burnout, proactive strategies to avoid burnout, coaching and mentorship strategies to enhance wellbeing, and ways to promote and foster a healthy work life balance, particularly in a hybrid work environment.

All courses will be offered virtually in Winter 2024, with additional offerings anticipated for later this year based on demand. While courses have been designed as part of the certificate program, they can be taken separately and are available for registration on a course-by-course basis. 

The program aims to address feedback from the Employee Experiences Survey to increase professional development opportunities and mental health services, and has been intentionally designed to help address workload management. It is available at no cost and is open for registration on the HR Intranet. Questions about the program can be directed to Employee Wellness Services.

In addition to the certificate program, other upcoming workshops and supports are available for employees including:

  • The Working Mind Training: an evidence-based program designed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada to promote mental health and reduce stigma in the workplace.
  • Stress Relaxation Techniques: a webinar offered by our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provider, TELUS Health One, to understand stress response, how it works, and how to manage it. 
  • The Gold Folder: a printable guide for assisting employees in distress, recognizing the signs of distress, and understanding when colleagues need support.
