To increase awareness and drive action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Queen’s University is hosting a fast-paced, brainstorming event called 17 Rooms on June 21, 2021. Based on the United Nations’ 17 SDGs, participants will collectively come up with new ideas about how the university can contribute to these goals. This online event will be hosted through Zoom and registration is now open to interested faculty, staff, and students.
The three-hour event will kick-off with all participants attending an opening keynote address and will then join one of 17 assigned breakout rooms, each dedicated to a particular SDG and moderated by a Queen’s faculty member. Following the event, action items and key takeaways will be compiled in a report to be shared with the principal, deans, and senior leadership team for further discussion.
The United Nations’ SDGs are a collection of 17 interrelated global goals designed to “achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.” In April, Queen’s University was ranked first in Canada and fifth in the world in the 2021 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for its commitment to advancing the SDGs, both locally and globally.
All staff, faculty, and students are welcome to register by June 10, 2021. Space is limited so please register early. For any questions, contact 17Rooms@queensu.ca.
