The Queen’s community is remembering Marianne Ferris, a former employee in the Vice-Principal (Research) portfolio and the Department of Surgery, who died on Sept. 13, after a brave battle with ALS. She was 62.

Marianne was the ‘first point of contact’ for many as the Administrative and Finance Assistant in the Vice-Principal (Research) during her time there from 2009 to 2021.

She then joined the Department of Surgery as Finance Coordinator and was promoted to Finance Officer in early 2024. Living with ALS, Marianne persevered through her functional limitations and adapted to continue to work and fulfill all of the responsibilities and duties of her position.

She enjoyed coming into the office to work alongside her fellow staff members and to be productive in her financial work, which she excelled at, providing her colleagues with a greater understanding of the departmental finances.

A family obituary is available online.
