Two teams were named winners of the recent Fifth Annual Mayor’s Innovation Challenge Pitch Competition. Team Off We Go was selected for the four-month Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Centre incubator program, while Team Resume Writer won a paid internship with the City of Kingston.
Team Off We Go pitched an idea for a platform that provides tailor-made tourist experiences through the use of augmented content and engaging stories. The platform, which can be used by businesses and the City of Kingston, can help increase tourism numbers and enhance the local economy. The group is now entered into a four-month incubator program with the Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Centre and will earn a $7,000 stipend for up to three co-founders as well as up to $4,000 in seed capital to develop the winning concept. They will also gain full participation in the Queen's Innovation Centre Summer Initiative (QICSI 2022) program, which includes the chance to pitch in August for a grand prize of $30,000.
The Mayor's Innovation Challenge is a partnership between the City of Kingston, Bell Canada, and the Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Challenge.
