The revitalization project for the John Deutsch University Centre (JDUC) continues to move forward and is close to reaching several important milestones as it approaches completion.
Currently, an occupancy permit for the previously-existing areas of the JDUC is expected to be received on Dec. 6. Following this date, occupants – student clubs and organizations – will be able to begin the move-in and set-up process, without the need to wear protective safety clothing. New-build areas – including the Agora and retail spaces – are slated to receive an occupancy permit on or around Dec. 23.
The project team has tentatively scheduled mid-January for the revitalized JDUC to be open to the public. Updates are being provided to stakeholders on a weekly basis.
The JDUC serves as a hub for student life at Queen’s, and will once again feature the offices of the Alma Mater Society, the Society of Graduate and Professional Students, the Office of the Rector, the Student Experience Office (SEO), as well as numerous student clubs, new student wellbeing space, a pub, and a media centre.
