The UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) is being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between Nov. 30 - Dec. 12, and an expert in environmental finance from Queen’s University will be in attendance.

The 194 countries that signed the Paris Agreement in 2015 will be working towards their pledge to limit greenhouse gas emissions and keep the global temperature rise below 1.5C. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has said if temperatures rise above 1.7C, half the world’s population could be exposed to life-threatening heat and that emissions must be halved by 2030 to remain on target. This fast-approaching timeline has the potential to make COP28 a pivotal moment in addressing global climate change.

Ryan Riordan (Director of Research, Institute for Sustainable Finance) is available to speak to media about Carbon markets; sustainable finance; capital mobilization for climate solutions; nature and natural assets.
