An invitation has been extended to submit first stage proposals for this year’s Queen’s National Scholar (QNS) program. A template for submitting expressions of interest (EOI) is available on the Office of the Provost website.

“We encourage faculties to examine and discuss how the Queen’s National Scholars program could support their priorities and the institutional priorities outlined in the university’s Academic Plan and Strategic Research Plan,” says Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic).

The EOI template will guide interested units through the submission process. Endorsement, including a signed statement of support, is required from the relevant dean or deans. Interdisciplinary and cross-faculty submissions are encouraged.

The QNS advisory committee will review the EOIs and identify four proposals to advance to the next stage of the evaluation process where expanded submissions are required. Relevant deans will then be requested to recommend an individual to be appointed as the scholar. The QNS advisory committee will review submissions and recommend to the Principal two new scholars for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The goal of the new QNS program is to bring senior assistant and junior associate professors to Queen’s. QNS scholars will have already demonstrated their abilities to provide a rich and rewarding learning experience to their students, and develop a research program that aligns well with institutional priorities.

Expressions of interest are to be submitted electronically to the relevant faculty office by February 15.
