Principal Daniel Woolf hosted his annual holiday reception for Queen’s staff and faculty which saw the presentation of the annual Staff Recognition Awards and also raised money and food donations for the Partners in Mission food bank.
Principal Woolf spoke, highlighting a number of events on campus in 2013, including the return of Homecoming, a visit from actress Glenn Close, who was awarded an honorary degree in June, and the launch of the Accessibility Hub.
"This is my chance to thank you for all the hard work you've put in this year. It means a great deal to me to have such a dedicated and passionate team of people helping to keep things ticking along on a daily basis," said Principal Woolf. "This is also one of the few opportunities we get to gather together every year as a community of staff and faculty members, and to take some time to visit with colleagues, whether they work down the hall or across campus. It can be easy to forget, especially when things get busy, that no matter how we spend our days, we all share a common bond in our place of work."
He then handed out the annual Staff Recognition Awards, which are awarded on the basis of nominations.
This year's awards went to Anne Tobin, a program coordinator with the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences who has been employed at Queen's for over 26 years, and to Cathy Dickison, Cindy Fehr, Yvonne Place and Deborah Stirton-Massey, the office staff in the Department of History.
