“I want to extend my sincere gratitude to all of the Queen's staff, alumni, students and volunteers that worked so hard to make Homecoming a success, and to our community partners, including the Kingston Police and city officials, for their collaboration and support,” says Principal Daniel Woolf. “The return of Homecoming meant a great deal to the Queen's community, and I was happy to see that the event was, for the most part, a safe and respectful celebration of the Queen's spirit.”

 

The second Homecoming weekend included a celebration of the Tricolour Guard (alumni celebrating their 50th or greater reunions), a thrilling football victory against the Guelph Gryphons, and another successful Queen's Gives Back food drive.

 

It was also a quiet weekend in the near-campus community, with Kingston Police issuing 24 tickets and making four arrests. 

 

Over the coming weeks, the university will meet with all of its partners – including business leaders, students, alumni, Kingston Police, community members, and municipal officials – to discuss the weekends and gather feedback on a variety of topics, including the benefits of Homecoming to the city of Kingston. 

 

“We have worked closely with all of our partners throughout this process, and will continue to work with them as we make decisions regarding this and future Homecomings,” says Principal Woolf.
