The following is a statement regarding last week's off-campus assault of a Queen's student:

We are saddened and angered by the recent assault on one of our students at an off-campus location last week.

All members of the Queen’s community should be able to go about their lives without fear of intimidation or physical violence. Such actions are reprehensible. This incident is concerning to all of us, and we are confident that the Kingston Police are working diligently to investigate this assault and apprehend those involved.

We are fortunate here at Queen’s to belong to a tight-knit community where people look out for and respect one another and support one another as friends and peers.

We encourage students in need of support to contact Health, Counselling and Disability Services at 613-533-6000 ext. 78264, the AMS Peer Support Centre at 613-533-6000 ext. 75111 and/or the SGPS Student Advisor Program at 613-533-2924. After hours, students are encouraged to contact Campus Security and Emergency Services at 613-533-6080 for support.

If you feel threatened or concerned for your safety while on campus, please contact the Queen’s Emergency Report Centre at 613-533-6111 or by using any Blue Light Emergency Phone.  When off-campus or if the safety concern is imminent, please contact the Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 or 9-1-1 Emergency.
