Digital Skills: HTML for Beginners - ONLINE Workshop

When:
Wednesday, July 10, 2024
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Where:
Description:

Overview: In this online workshop, participants will be guided through the basics of HTML, the standard markup language for web pages. Participants will learn about the commonly used HTML tags and attributes, and the best practices for their usage. Participants will also start to write simple code themselves.

Purpose: At least a little HTML knowledge is necessary for anyone who wants to build or maintain a website. Sometimes, when the content of a website doesn’t display as you intend, you can go “under the hood” and into the HTML code to figure out what is going on. A solid understanding of HTML is the basis for good accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO) practices, and for ensuring that your web content looks great across different browsers and platforms.

Who is it for: This workshop is geared toward staff and faculty who are using or plan to use a content management system (such as the Queen’s WebPublish) to build and manage a website for Queen’s, but who have no training or limited training. No previous HTML knowledge is required, but some experience with publishing content on a website is recommended.
