Find on Campus Map
The Course Design/Redesign Institute is an intensive workshop that guides participants through a process of designing or redesigning an academic course. The Institute is open to all educators at Queen’s University preparing a course to be taught in the upcoming year.
This year, the Institute will be offered as a blended and hy-flex program, with options to attend in-person or online, and access to an onQ course site for digital resources and activities.
Institute Outcomes
By the end of Course Design Institute, you will be able to:
- identify situational factors that affect decisions you make in the design process
- apply principles of backward design and integrated course design to improve student engagement and learning
- review and advance your course design and teaching on identified principles such as decolonization, accessibility, inclusivity, anti-racism, global engagement, and/or student & instructor well-being.
Institute Structure
Course Design Institute is structured as a week-long program. Participants engage in facilitated in-person/synchronous activities on the Tuesday and Thursday of that week. On other days, additional activities and resources are offered for self-directed engagement.
