When:
Monday, September 27, 2021
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Where:
Description:

Lecture 1: Dr. Linda Mussell, Political Studies, University of Ottawa

This six-part, online Zoom lecture series centres speakers' diverse experiences navigating the challenging world of academia, finding opportunities within and beyond postsecondary institutions, and carving space for themselves and others in their fields. By creating space for balanced representation and illuminating diverse lived realities in academia and beyond, we might all be empowered to reflect on and share our own journeys, and be better equipped to support each other in the process.

Kick-starting the series, Dr. Linda Mussell will be sharing insight into the challenges and opportunities of publishing in academic and non-academic contexts. Based in Katarokwi/Kingston, Dr. Mussell completed her PhD in the Department of Political Studies at Queen’s University in April 2021. Through her work she supports transformative justice and disrupting the harmful direct and indirect impacts of carceral policy. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Ottawa, researching decarceration policy during the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada and the United States.

ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND!
