Saka New Year and Ramaḍān begins

When:
Tuesday, April 13, 2021 (all day)
Description:

Observed over two days, the Saka calendar's New Year's Day is a religious and cultural celebration for Sinhalese, Indians, Burmese, Kampucheans, Laotians and Thais. (Theravāda) Religious accommodation for special worship may be required for this observance/holy day.

Ramaḍān is the month of fasting (ending with ’Īd al-Fiṭr on May 13 at sunset) during which physically able Muslims do not eat or drink from the first sign of dawn until sunset. It is a time of self-examination and religious devotion. An observant would not be expected to refrain from work; however, special consideration for worship may be requested. (Observance begins at sunset of the previous day, but special worship and prayers begin April 13.) (Dates based on lunar observations in North America.) Religious accommodation for special worship may be required for this observance/holy day.
