Introduction to Intellectual Property and how to manage it in your lab
We will discuss fundamentals of protecting intellectual property with a focus on patents, and the resources and services available through Queen’s Partnerships and Innovation for protecting and commercializing inventions.
Speakers:
Stephen Scribner, PhD
Director, Intellectual Property, Patent Agent, Queen’s Partnerships and Innovation
Stephen has a Ph.D. in Biology from Queen’s and a D.E.C. in Electronics Technology. He has been a registered patent agent in Canada and the United States for 23 years, and has been developing IP protection strategies, obtaining patents, and managing IP portfolios for Queen’s since 1997.
Jason Hendry, MSc
Assistant Director, Commercial Development, Queen’s Partnerships and Innovation
Jason has a Master’s degree in materials science from the University of Toronto’s Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering and has been creating and managing partnerships between Queen’s researchers and industry since 2007.
