Are you looking for new ideas to rejuvenate your teaching? Curious about what’s happening in classrooms across campus? Seeking a teaching mentor, or ready to mentor others? If so, then teaching triangles are for you! In this program, popular among faculty members at universities across Canada and the USA, participants will be placed or self-select into groups of three at an initial kick-off meeting, where they will also learn the details of how the process works and set goals for their observations. In the following two months, the members of each triad will observe each other’s teaching with an aim to learn rather than critique, and will meet as a trio to discuss their observations and discoveries. The program will conclude with a final full-group debriefing meeting/celebration at the end of the semester to synthesize learning from the program and plan next steps.
Outcomes:
As a result of participating in this program, individuals will:
- rejuvenate their own teaching practice by observing and reflecting on the teaching techniques of peers on campus
- reflect on their experiences as a learner in others’ classrooms
- build mutual mentoring relationships focused on teaching
