Mindfulness training can bring remarkable changes in the workplace, benefitting not only those who attend the training. It has a ripple effect that can extend to the entire organization.
The modern workplace can be a chaotic environment that contributes to high levels of stress. When feeling overwhelmed, we tend to ruminate and go into 'autopilot'. Over time, a mind-body disconnect occurs and our innate capacity for self-awareness, self-regulation and self-care, decreases.
Mindfulness teaches us to bring attention to what is occurring in the present moment and observe our reactions in a non-judgmental way. This allows us to become aware of our physical and mental perceptions. This awareness also lets us recognize habitual behaviours and choose more effective responses. Over time, this strengthens our emotional resilience and emotional intelligence.
In this one-hour introductory seminar, participants will explore the basics of mindfulness, in particular:
(1) What mindfulness is and why it is growing in popularity
(2) Myths and facts: what mindfulness is and what it is not
(3) The neuroscience of mindfulness and the benefits.
In addition, the facilitator will guide participants through three simple mindfulness practices.
