Holocaust Memorial & the History of Medicine

Speakers: Dr. Jacalyn Duffin & Nathan Katz
Dr. Jacalyn Duffin will be telling the story of holocaust survivor Halina Robinson, a Polish-born Canadian scientist who played an important, but little-recognized, role in the discovery of Vinca alkaloids. Dr. Duffin is Hannah Professor Emerita of History of Medicine at Queen’s, and a recent inductee into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.
Medical student Nathan Katz will be giving a short talk on the role of individual remembrance.
There will be a poster display from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, providing a historical overview of the Holocaust. Attendees are welcome to browse the posters before and after the talks. Light catering will be provided.
