Exhibition opening for Future Female: women of early sci-fi and pulps
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Staff at W.D. Jordan Rare Books and Special Collections invite you to the opening of a new exhibition, Future Female: women of early sci-fi and pulps, on Friday October 21 at 11:00-12:00.
This exhibition features stories and images from female authors, illustrators, editors, and feature writers of the ‘Golden Era’ of 20th century science fiction and the pulps. It explores women’s visions of the future, representations of women in the genre, and women’s navigation of a male-dominated publishing industry from the early 1900s to the 1980s.
Future Female is co-curated by Kelly McDevitt (PhD Candidate, English Language & Literature) and Brendan Edwards (Curator, Rare Books and Special Collections) and features selections from the Norman V. Lamb Gothic Fantasy Collection.
The curators will provide opening remarks at 11:15, and light refreshments will be available in the Graham George Seminar Room.
W.D. Jordan Rare Books and Special Collections is located on the second floor of Douglas Library, 93 University Avenue.
