Historian Barry Trachtenberg (Wake Forest University) and Sociologist Rabab Abdulhadi (San Francisco State) will speak about their experience as scholars and educators in the area of ethnic and religious studies on United States campuses.

How can Muslims and Jews establish a common ground of historical and cultural understanding needed to dispel ignorance and defend against the upsurge of hatred and violence that targets them and many racialised and marginalized groups in Canada and the United States? On February 28th and 29th, historians, social scientists, cultural critics, journalists, and advocates in the area of human rights will take part in a two-day symposium on the topic of “Becoming Allies: Muslim-Jewish Solidarity in the Face of Islamophobia and Antisemitism.”
