Rollo Othwell Earl was the Head of the Biology Department from 1936-1956 and served as the Dean of Arts and Science from 1951-1959.
He also served as the commanding officer of the Queen's Canadian Officers' Training Corps (COTC) during WWII.
Earl believed strongly in the importance of having an excellent honours program at Queen's, in particular for training teachers for Ontario schools.
Earl Hall is named in his honour. His papers are held at Queen's University archives.
