Biography

Anthony Giles holds a PhD in Industrial Relations from the University of Warwick. He taught Industrial Relations for nearly 20 years, first at the University of New Brunswick, and then at Laval University. In 2004, he joined the Labour Program of the Department of Employment and Social Development Canada as Director General of International and Intergovernmental Labour Affairs, and in 2007 he was appointed Director General of Strategic Policy, Analysis and Information on Workplaces. In 2015 he was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy, Dispute Resolution and International Affairs. He retired from the federal government in 2021 and now teaches in the Master of Industrial Relations program at Queens University.
