Global Development Studies is happy to announce that graduating student Jennifer Langill has been an awarded the OceanPath Fellowship for her individualized, interest-free micro-finance program that she developed in Laos, Southeast Asia.  Ms. Langill?s goal is to expand the program in the original village and then introduce it in three others.

Ms. Langill?s intent is to work with individuals to determine their specific needs and goals. Examples may be saving up for health needs and education, or starting new income-generating endeavours such as investments in livestock and small businesses. Ms. Langill will then work with the participants to divide earnings between immediate needs and reinvestment.

Ms. Langill is excited to increase the ability of families to pursue what is most important to them, and to help diversify and grow village economies.

The OceanPath Fellowship provides community-focused experiential learning opportunities for graduating students to become active and effective change-makers, bringing new ideas and working closely with communities to foster sustainable and positive social change in Canada and around the world.
