CORA is pleased to introduce the 2023-2024 Post-Doctoral Fellow, Dr. Patricia Mocker. Dr. Mockler’s research examines the contours of political participation with a focus on the implications of structural inequality for how citizens engage with the state. Her dissertation research explored the development of deliberative mini-publics in Canada and the UK as a novel form of citizen engagement with implications for participants’ political efficacy.
Through her appointment with CORA, Dr. Mockler continues to focus on recent developments in political engagement in the Canadian context and will develop an understanding of how the COVID-19 pandemic continues to shape the inclusiveness of Canada’s political institutions.
Dr. Mockler's recent publications include:
- "Measuring the Inclusiveness of Deliberation: Structural Inequality and the Discourse Quality Index" in Comparative European Politics
- Deliberative Mini-Publics: Core Design Features from Bristol University Press
