Who we are and what we do

Student Conduct and Care is a unit of Student Affairs, comprising Student Conduct, Non-Academic Misconduct Intake, and Care Support Services for students. Our team works with campus partners and students to support a thriving and safe Queen's community by responding to and resolving non-academic misconduct, and by providing services to support holistic student success and well-being.

Student Conduct

Student Conduct includes the Student Conduct Office as well as the Non-Academic Misconduct Intake Office (NAMIO).

The NAMIO handles referrals and intake of student cases into the University's Non-Academic Misconduct system. The Student Conduct Office manages and investigates serious cases of non-academic misconduct, including those that fall under the Policy on Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Violence Involving Students, and the Harassment and Discrimination Prevention and Response Policy.

Non-Academic Misconduct Intake Office (NAMIO)

For students who encounter the non-academic misconduct system, intake and referral is handled by the NAMIO.

Student Care

The Care team connects students to a variety of resources on and off campus, and provides non-clinical support around understanding and coping with stress and obstacles related to being a Queen’s student, living away from home, and everyday life. We answer student, parent, and community concerns.

Some students are referred to the Care team by faculty and staff who are concerned about a student's well-being and their ability to navigate resources and supports. The Care Team Coordinator receives referrals and assesses to determine the best available resources. Where there is an indication of a pattern or emergent concern for disruptive conduct, self-harm, or risk of violence to the community, Care referrals will be assessed and reviewed by the University's Assessment and Care Team (ACT).
