The Department of Classics offers major, medial and minor concentrations leading to a Bachelor of Honours (BAH) degree, and a general Plan leading to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Students have two Plans (CLAS and CLST) from which to choose.
If you enjoyed any of our first-year Classics courses (introductory courses in Greek or Roman Civilizations, Archaeology, or Ancient Greek or Latin), and like the idea of continuing on with a diverse and challenging field of study in a small, friendly and knowledgeable department, consider a concentration in Classics.
Upper-year courses are offered in a variety of thematic areas including Classical Literature and Culture, Greek and Latin Languages, Ancient History and Culture, Classical Archaeology, and Ancient Science and Philosophy. If these topics sound interesting to you, consider doing a Classics Major or Medial.
If you are working toward a major concentration in another Plan, many of our courses provide an excellent foundation for, or complement studies in, other subject areas... why not consider adding a Classics minor, or choosing some of the many Classics electives, to enhance your academic studies!
The Plan Selection period for Arts and Science students entering second year is May 14-25. Please see the Going Into Second Year page of the Arts and Science website for more information about the Plan Selection process.
Please contact our Undergraduate Chair if you require further advice about Classics Degree Plans.
