Why do we laugh? We will analyze social and psychological aspects of humour in the ancient world, with an emphasis on Greece and Rome. We will discuss the techniques by which humour was created. Along with literature, including ancient comedies, and graffiti, attention will be paid to humorous scenes in visual arts.

This course is different from the online and the blended version. This is a 3-hour lecture per week course.
