Our new strategic plan, “Forward, Together,” which was presented to Advancement staff last week, was approved by the External Relations and Development Committee (ERD) of the Board of Trustees. Here is an infographic of the plan that will soon be popping up in and around our offices.

Space Odyssey

The ALT was very interested in our future space ideas when they were reviewed last week. The vision was well received, with only a few changes. Stakeholder input from staff, the ALT, and visitors was critical to the visioning and prioritization process, which included:

1. Modernizing and upgrading facilities

2. Capitalizing on Advancement’s location and building, especially the first floors that is accessible to alumni, donors, and the campus community

3. Employee collaboration, productivity, and engagement. Increase the number of meeting spaces, swing spaces, including lunchrooms in each building

A multi-year plan and budget is now being developed, in consultation with Physical Plant Services (PPS), which will direct projects over the next several years. Once we nail down the details, we will fill you in!

YouTube Channel Jubilee’s Middle Ground Should Be Your New Favourite YouTube Series

Middle Ground involves conversations between people or groups who are usually extremely divided. The videos are not that long and they deal with everything (liberals/conservatives, LGBTQ/Christians, men/women, teens/parents, meat eaters/vegans, rich/poor, etc.).

Normally you would expect these conversations to erupt into heated arguments, but Jubilee asks questions that allow both sides to learn more about each other and understand why that person believes the opposite.

As Rayan Ramadan writes in Affinity Magazine,Middle Ground opens your mind up to the notion that those ‘enemies’ on the other side are people with morals, values, and beliefs that may or may not coincide with yours, but we should still take time to understand them.”

Queen's College Colours

In 1897, after the football team had been soundly beaten by U of T, the AMS decided Queen's needed to create a powerful slogan or cheer to support the team when U of T came to Kingston for a return match. Working through the night, an AMS committee rewrote an existing song and renamed it Queen's College Colours and it has remained the Queen's fight song to this day.
