Our new strategic plan, Forward, Together, identified the need for an external review of AR&AG programming as a vital first step for building our strategies for the next five years. Specifically, developing alumni programming to align it with stage-of-life needs. I’m pleased to say that we have asked the Offord Group to extend the scope of their strategic planning mandate to assist with this. Marts & Lundy alumni relations expert Christopher Vlahos will be working closely with us. Learn more about Chris.

By the end of May, we will have an AR&AG engagement strategy that aligns with our strategic plan. We will begin this process in the next few weeks and there will be many opportunities to be involved. Executing the plan and bringing the new strategy to fruition over the next five years will truly require a team effort. Some examples of what the Alumni and Annual Giving Engagement Strategy will include are:

A vision of where the university sees itself with regard to alumni and annual engagement

A set of strategic pillars that will act as guiding principles for alumni engagement at Queen’s and will ensure activity is focused and purposeful

A definition of alumni and annual giving measures of success with metrics for tracking achievements

Ways to strengthen alumni and annual giving communications and volunteer networks

Exciting and busy times ahead. If you would like to be involved, please reach out to me.

Fun Fact

The First Canadian Commerce Program

In 1919 Queen's established the first commerce program in Canada and only the second in the entire commonwealth. It was renamed the School of Business in 1960, but remained part of Arts & Science until 1963 when it finally became a separate faculty.
