In ALTogether Now Join Gurdeep Pandher for Advancement Enhancement Day, we provided an update on the Building a Better Workplace design presentations and next steps.  One of these updates was that Advancement Leadership Team (ALT) would begin to immediately develop a team charter to define the role of ALT, how we will lead by example, and our commitment to you, ourselves, and Advancement.

Concerns about the shelf life of a team charter, alignment, and how to create a system of accountability, resulted in the ALT charter becoming an ALT Performance Dialogue Process (PDP).  The ALT PDP will be the same as the one we all use now – it outlines ALT core responsibilities, ALT objectives, and Advancement’s values and observable behaviors we are committed to.

To be effective, the ALT PDP will be the same as the Human Resources PDP.  A formal process for staff to rate ALT and provide feedback will be provided mid-year and at year-end.  And, of course, opportunities for discussion, feedback, and realignment of priorities will be available throughout the year in the form of staff meetings, ALT Q&A, one-to-one meetings, informal chats, and Advancing your Voice.

 Live Alumni training sessions

In this second year of our pilot using LiveAlumni, we are pleased to confirm additional training sessions planned for the month of August.  The training will be led by the folks at LiveAlumni who are pleased to run individual sessions for both new users and those existing users who want to further leverage the application.  In advance of these opportunities, Information Technology Management will be requesting your input on material you would like covered and any specific questions or needs you may have to maximize our time with our partners.  Please stay tuned as we have just confirmed our partner’s availability for this opportunity. We will be back shortly with confirmed session dates, outcomes, and intended audience and a mechanism for pre-session input.   


Cybersecurity action plan 

Queen’s University Information Technology Services, along with a network of Change Advocates (thanks Simon Labbett!) across the academy, continue to roll out the university’s Cybersecurity Action Plan.  Up to this point, enrollment in programs such as multifactor authentication (MFA), endpoint protection (EP), and completion of various training modules though the Cybersecurity Education and Awareness Program Training have been largely voluntary as we socialize the changes that people can expect as they engage with Queen’s infrastructure under the new program. 

It was always intended that this voluntary phase would end and now plans are in place to sequence mandated enrollment in these programs through the summer and into the fall and new year.  The vast majority of you will not have received an email on July 6 prompting you to enroll in MFA or lose your access to Office 365 within 14 days.  Why not?  Because the intersection of our dedicated Change Advocate (Simon), relentless-yet-kind Service Desk colleagues (John, Brent, pre-retirement Paul), and your own enthusiasm for keeping Queen’s digital environment safe led us to the highest adoption rate on campus during the voluntary stage.  Save and except for a very few anomalous accounts, we are close to 100% for MFA – by far the highest rate on campus.  Lets keep this good news going as we look to turn our attention to upcoming dates for mandatory enrollment in EP and Education and Awareness Training (sneak peek – good initial adoption here as well).  Thank you, everyone!

The Road to Recovery: Reintegration

June 29, Advancement Events partnered with University Relations and the Faculty of Health Sciences to launch a virtual event series called The Road to Recovery. The pilot event, Reintegration, was moderated by Buzzfeed writer and editor and CBC podcast host, Elamin Abdelmahmoud, Artsci'11. Abdelmahmoud led a lively panel discussion with experts from health care, psychology, organizational behaviour, and education, on what life will look like as we move toward a "new normal."
