Selected passages of Latin verse, usually drawn from epic, lyric, elegy, and drama, read in the original Latin and commented upon for their linguistic, literary, and historical significance.

Course Learning Outcomes:
- Translate ancient Latin into idiomatic English.
- Parse words and phrases in order to identify their grammatical function in the sentence.
- Comment on the literary and historical significance of particular passages.
- Analyze metrical forms.
