An intermediate study of key concepts in communication studies investigated through cultural practices and/or national contexts from the 1960s to the present.

Requirements: Prerequisite (Registration in a FILM, MAPP, or COFI Plan) or (FILM 236/3.0 or FILM 240/3.0 or FILM 260/3.0) or (registration in an ARTH, ARTV, DRAM, or MUSC Plan).

Course Learning Outcomes:
- Analyze a cross-section of modes of communication (documentary, ethnographic, television, political media), platforms (podcasts, blogs, social media), texts (scholarly, press, artistic), and interventions (activism) via key concepts in Communication Studies.
- Construct and communicate effective arguments and analysis of communication theory.
- Form connections between Communication Studies and cognate bodies of knowledge in relation to issues of discourse, message, authenticity, and difference.
- Understand research trends and critical approaches in Communication Studies.
