Since 1970, our rigorous and well-focused two-year Master of Planning (M.PL.) program allows our students to develop the knowledge and skills they require to become leaders in the planning field and to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving urban environment.



Canadian Institute of Planners

The program is fully recognized by the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI). This recognition facilitates the acquisition of membership by graduates to the OPPI and, by extension, to the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP).

The School has a close relationship with the planning profession. Among Ontario planning schools we have the largest proportion of students enrolled as student members of the OPPI and CIP. The executive committee of the Eastern Ontario District of the OPPI has two places reserved for our student representatives.

Up until 2002, our graduates could use an "internal" process to satisfy the (OPPI Examination B) requirements of the professional membership examination. But since 2002, graduates from recognized programs could automatically become a "provisional member" of OPPI after graduation. With a minimum of two years of professional experience, the provisional member passes an oral examination (OPPI Examination A) administered solely by the OPPI and becomes a "full member."
