August 22, 2016: Welcome to Assistant Dean (Student Life and Learning) Corinna Fitzgerald!
Corinna has worked in Student Affairs at post-secondary institutions in Canada for the past 17 years. She comes to Queen’s from Humber College, where she held the position of Director, Student Life Programs. She has also served as Director, Student Life at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, and before that, Corinna was the Judicial Affairs Coordinator (responsible for the adjudication of the Residence, Athletics and Student Codes of Conduct) at McMaster, after working there as a Residence Manager. She is originally from Newfoundland and began her career at Memorial University. She has extensive experience supervising a broad range of services and implementing many programs and supports to benefit students.
Corinna’s significant work as a practitioner is grounded in a theoretical background in student development. She has completed a Master of Education in Post-Secondary Studies from Memorial and a Master of Arts degree in Labour Studies from McMaster. She has held executive positions with regional, provincial and national organizations. She was a member of the Colleges Ontario Taskforce on Sexual Violence, and she is part of a small team developing a competency framework for the Student Affairs and Services profession for the Canadian Association of College and University Student Services (CACUSS).
