Research in the School of Policy Studies

The faculty and researchers at Queen's School of Policy Studies enrich the environment of the school with their vast research interests in the areas of policy, public administration, human resources, labour relations, and much more. Whether conducting their research locally or globally, the impact of the outcomes of their research is far reaching with many publishing their findings via our Publications Unit.

SPS Centres, Institutes and Programs

  • Canada Opinion and Research Archive (CORA)
The Canadian Opinion Research Archive at Queen's University makes available commercial and independent surveys to the academic, research and journalistic communities. Founded in 1992, CORA contains hundreds of surveys including thousands of discrete items collected by major commercial Canadian firms dating back to the 1970s.

  • Centre for International and Defence Policy (CIPD)
The Centre for International and Defence Policy was established in 1975 to provide a focal point for research, publication and education on Canadian foreign and defence policy and other aspects of international relations.
  • Institute of Intergovernmental Relations (IIGR)
The Institute of Intergovernmental Relations at Queen's University is Canada's premier university-based centre for research on all aspects of federalism and intergovernmental relations, both in Canada and in countries around the world.
  • Multiculturalism Policy Index (MCP)
The Multiculturalism Policy Index is a scholarly research project that monitors the evolution of multiculturalism policies in 21 Western democracies. The project is designed to provide information about multiculturalism policies in a standardized format that aids comparative research and contributes to the understanding of state-minority relations.

  • Queen's Institute for Energy and Environmental Policy (QIEEP)
The Queen's Institute for Energy and Environmental Policy arises from the conviction that trans-disciplinary research increases the scope and influence of work that is already being done. The Institute promotes the meeting of unlike minds; it offers a crossroads where the best academic research intersects with the challenges of policy makers and industry.

  • Third Sector Program
The Public Policy and Third Sector Initiative is an exciting research and teaching initiative within the School of Policy Studies specially tailored for students interested in studying the multifaceted relationships between the public, private and voluntary sectors.
